Recently you might have heard how YouTube will be clamping down on videos related to guns, where videos that offer tutorials on modding guns will be banned, along with videos that contain links to websites that sell guns. Whether or not you are for or against guns is a debate for another day, but these new policy changes are making it hard for some creators.

So much so that it appears that gun videos are starting to make an appearance on Pornhub, where as the name of the website implies is clearly not the first destination you might think of when it comes to guns. However it seems that due to the policies of Pornhub, gun videos are allowed to be shared on the platform.

This is because Pornhub’s policy says that in terms of content that cannot be posted, users cannot “post any Content that is obscene, illegal, unlawful, defamatory, libelous, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, or is otherwise inappropriate.” So unless the gun video violates any of the policies mentioned above, technically they have no problems existing on the platform.

Of course whether or not Pornhub will let this slide remains to be seen, but in a previous post on Reddit by Pornhub senior community manager Katie, it seems that the company might seriously explore creating a separate section of Pornhub for non-porn related videos. “We’ve joked about doing something like this in the past but now it’s becoming more and more realistic and not so crazy. We’ll see!” In the meantime Reddit is also cracking down on communities that sell firearms.
