If there was ever an advantage that brick and mortar retailers had over online retailers such as Amazon was that you could go into the store and walk away with your purchase there and then. This is versus waiting for a delivery which could take several days. However this has clearly changed as in recent times, Amazon has made same-day deliveries a thing.

The good news for consumers is that if you wanted more options when it comes to shopping, you’ll be interested to learn that Target has announced that they will be expanding their same-day delivery options for in-store purchases. This means that you’ll be able to order bulky items and have it delivered to you on the same day itself if you don’t want to or can’t bring it home yourself.

It will also be ideal for customers who prefer seeing and feeling a product, like a TV, hi-fi system, or any electronic gadgets before buying. According to Target, “When checking out in store, guests can opt to have their orders delivered the same day—during a two-hour window that’s most convenient for them. And in case you’re seeing dollar signs galore: it only costs $7 flat! No schlepping, no metro jostling. All that for the price of a short taxi ride.”

This delivery option will be available in five cities at launch which includes Boston, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. We expect that eventually it will expand to cover more cities, but if you live in those cities then this could be worth checking out in the near future.
