Target acquired same-day grocery delivery service Shipt last year for over $500 million. Target’s acquisition was viewed as a response to Walmart and Amazon’s grocery delivery businesses. However, Target has not limited the service to groceries only and it’s going to expand its reach even further come 2019.

Shipt has shoppers pick up items and then deliver them to customers often in under one hour. The categories that it currently offers include accessories, bath, shoes, and clothing. Shipt is currently available in more than 200 markets across 46 states and will also continue its expansion in 2019.

A yearly membership to Shipt costs $99 which is $20 cheaper than Amazon Prime but the latter also includes some other benefits such as content libraries. The company does charge Prime members an additional $14.99 per month for its AmazonFresh grocery delivery service.

The retailer has confirmed that Shipt will provide same-day delivery of “all major product categories” by 2019. It currently offers same-day delivery for more than 55,000 groceries and other essential items aside from select toys, electronics, and other products.

Starting next year, Shipt’s delivery service will be expanded to cover all major product categories. This includes items such as apparel and more. Target hasn’t confirmed how many SKUs would be added to the service or precisely when this expansion is going to begin next year.
