Considering how popular Fortnite Battle Royale is, it made a lot of sense that Nintendo would want to get the game onto its platform, which they did when they officially announced its launch and availability on the Switch yesterday. It turned out to be a pretty smart move because according to the official numbers, it has since been downloaded 2 million times.

Yup, it has been about a day since its launch and the game has managed to rack up 2 million downloads, and considering its popularity and how many Switch units there are in the wild, we expect those numbers to keep climbing. This was confirmed by IGN who spoke to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

According to Fils-Aime, “At this point, we’ve already had more than two million downloads on Fortnite. So that speaks to an engaged audience on Nintendo Switch as well as the core proposition of, I can now take it with me and play anywhere, anytime, with anyone, it’s really resonated.”

So far Fortnite has been on a roll and recent numbers have revealed that the game has managed to cross the 125 million player mark. Like we said we expect this number to rise as more Switch gamers will probably be getting into it, and let’s not forget that it is also slated for launch on Android this coming summer.
