Samsung is believed to have a new tablet in the pipeline, the successor to the Galaxy Tab A 10.1. The unannounced device has received its Bluetooth certification already and it has now been spotted at the Wi-Fi Alliance for its Wi-Fi certification. The listing suggests that when this tablet does arrive, it will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Samsung has already released the Oreo update for many of its devices but they have all been upgraded to version 8.0 and not 8.1 which is the latest stable release of Google’s mobile operating system. There aren’t a lot of major differences between the two versions, though, as the latter is merely an incremental update.

The new tablet will likely be called the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2018) when it arrives in the coming months. When it does, it would be the first Galaxy device to come with Android 8.1 pre-installed. If it’s released after the Galaxy Note 9 then it’s going to be the new flagship smartphone that gets that title.

Samsung is expected to launch both Wi-Fi and LTE variants of this tablet like it did with the original Galaxy Tab A 10.1 back in 2016. The company is yet to confirm when this tablet is going to be out and how much it’s going to cost.
