It is usually thought that animated movies do well in cinemas and Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 has proven that to be true. In a report from Deadline, it seems that the movie has managed to cross the $1 billion mark in terms of ticket sales around the world. This is an achievement in itself and it also represents the seventh animated movie to have crossed the $1 billion mark.

The Incredibles 2 movie has been a very, very long time coming and was released a good 14 years after the original. As Deadline notes, the movie still has yet to find its way to other major markets which means that there is still an opportunity for the movie to pull in even more money from those markets upon its release.

To date the film has made $574 million domestically  and $430.9 million worldwide, bringing it to a total of $1.005 billion on Monday. In comparison, the original Incredibles managed to make $261 million domestically and $371 million internationally, with a total of $633 million worldwide. This means that its sequel has a chance of doubling what the original made.

Disney seems to be on a roll with their movies this year as the Incredibles 2 marks the third movie released by the company that has crossed the $1 billion threshold. The other two for 2018 alone include Marvel’s Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
