The concept of smart glasses aren’t new and companies such as Google have attempted them in the past with the Google Glass. It didn’t really take off the way Google intended, but Apple is reportedly planning something of their own which according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, is set for a launch in 2020.

Now we have heard rumors that Apple is working on their own set of augmented reality (AR) glasses. We know that the company is very interested in AR technology, as evidenced with iOS and Apple’s newer iPhones, but to think that Apple would launch a dedicated wearable for AR purposes does seem like a leap.

However Kuo has accurately predicted Apple’s product launches in the past so it stands to reason that he could be right. Other analysts have in the past also chimed in with their own predictions, where they are claiming that it might be launched in 2021. Details about the glasses are scarce at this point in time, but given what we know about smart glasses from Google and Snap’s attempts, we have to wonder if Apple’s undertaking has what it takes to convince the naysayers.

In any case 2020 is still a couple of years away and things could change, so do take it with a grain of salt for now.
