The problem with our smartphones is that for the most part, they’re usually too thin and light, which means that sometimes it’s not particularly comfortable when you’re trying to take a photo. This is versus cameras which generally have more heft and a better grip to them, but thanks to the folks at miggo, that will be possible for smartphones.

The company has recently launched its latest product called the Pictar Pro which adds a DSLR-like grip to your smartphone. In the video above you can clearly see that this essentially turns your phone into a massive device, but if you’re looking to take photos and can appreciate the size of the grip, then maybe the trade-off in weight and size could be worth it.

Not only does the Pictar Pro add a grip to your smartphone, but it also comes with a dedicated shutter button so you don’t have to fumble around on your phone’s display. There are also other controls such as a smart wheel that lets users choose from pre-set modes, along with an exposure compensation dial, and a rocker zoom switch.

It’s an interesting accessory but whether or not it is excessive is up to you to decide. However for those interested, the Pictar Pro is currently on Kickstarter where it has managed to raise over $80,000 and managed to pass its goal of $25,000, so head on over to pledge your support or if you’d like to find out more.
