One of the main drawbacks to using Android devices, especially those not made by Google, is that the availability of Android updates is usually a mixed bag, where there are some companies who want to be as quick to the market as possible, while there are others who seem to take their own sweet time, leaving users at their mercy.

In the case of the Android Pie update, companies such as Essential were quick to release, while others such as HMD Global announced their plans to release the update for some of their phones by the end of the year. Unfortunately for Samsung users, it seems that you guys might have quite a bit of waiting to do.

This is because according to a message that was sent out to Samsung Members in France, it seems that the company only has plans to begin updating their devices to Android Pie in January 2019. Given that the message was sent out in France, there is a possibility that the message might only be for users in the region.

However Samsung has been oddly mum with regards to the Android Pie update so we wouldn’t be surprised if the updates will only begin rolling out next year. There is also the issue of region availability where some might get it first, then there are also carrier approvals that need to be dealt with, so it looks like Samsung customers will need to practice some patience.
