Samsung today announced the launch of a new consumer solid state drive (SSD) lineup. The Samsung 860 QVO SSD offers multi-terabyte storage options at affordable prices. It’s available with up to four terabytes (TB) of storage capacity with great speed and reliability. The SSDs are built on Samsung’s high-density 4-bit multi-level cell NAND flash architecture.

The need for more and faster storage is greater than ever before as users produce and store more high resolution files. Graphics intensive games and 4K videos require lots of storage and Samsung is looking to meet that demand with the 860 QVO SSD series.

The SSD is based on the commonly used SATA interface and 2.5-inch form factor so it can easily fit in laptops or desktops. It eliminates the need to use a combination of an SSD and HDD for booting and storage as the 860 QVO offers high capacity and performance both.

It can achieve sequential read and write speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 520 MB/s, respectively. It also has Intelligent TurboWrite technology to help accelerate speeds which maintaining high performance for a longer period of time.

Samsung will begin selling the 860 QVO SSD series from next month with prices starting at $149.99 for the 1TB model.
