As gamers already know, Capcom is working on the Resident Evil 2 remake that they expect will be released early next year. From what we can tell, the game looks fantastic, and based on the feedback from gamers, it seems to be well-received, so much so that last we heard, Capcom was interested in pursuing more remakes in the future.

In fact according to a post on ResetEra by member DuskGolem (who has accurately leaked information in the past), apparently the remake of Resident Evil 3 is already in the works. According to the post, “Resident Evil 3 Remake is already in development. I hope Code Veronica happens as I do feel it’s the RE game most in need of a remake, but RE3 is the last mainline RE game that needed a version for easier porting in the future.”

Given that the events of Resident Evil 3 take place almost literally right after Resident Evil 2, it makes sense that Capcom would be interested in remaking the game as it would provide a sense of continuity for gamers. There is no word on when the game will be released, but with Resident Evil 2’s remake set for 2019, we imagine it will probably be 2020 at the earliest.

Naturally there is no confirmation yet by Capcom but we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information.
