Your Spotify listening experience is about to get much better on the Xbox One. Microsoft is rolling out a new software update for its gaming console today which brings the ability to control Spotify playback through voice commands given to the Cortana virtual assistant. This feature is available to users in the United States.

Users will be able to start and stop music playback as well as ask for certain playlists through voice commands. Xbox One owners can say “Hey Cortana, play my playlist on Spotify” and the assistant will get the music streaming service to do its thing. It will also be possible to play, skip, and pause songs through voice commands without having to leave the game.

Once they’re logged in, Spotify subscribers will be able to start streaming music instantly through the app in the Xbox One Guide. They will also have features like shuffle and repeat to make sure that the music is always to their liking.

Spotify’s integration with Cortana is currently available to Xbox One owners in the United States only. It hasn’t been said when this feature will be rolled out to more users across the globe. Those who want to use this integration need to make sure that they have the latest version of the Spotify app on their Xbox One.
