The other day Netflix released a teaser video for the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher. Unfortunately the video did not mention when the second season would be released, but the good news is that it looks like a date has finally been set, and it’s actually in the next couple of weeks.

Netflix has confirmed that the second season of The Punisher is set for an 18th of January, 2019 release. If you enjoyed the first season then you won’t have to wait too long to find out what Frank Castle gets up to in season 2. There is also a new trailer for the series which features The Punisher himself, and also based on how the second season ended, it also features Jigsaw who is one of The Punisher’s more prominent enemies, who will presumably play a pretty big role in the second season as well.

That being said, there is a very good chance that the second season of The Punisher could very well be its last. We’ve seen how Netflix has been unloading its Marvel TV series, with the most surprising being Daredevil which is arguably one of the better performers as far as the Marvel lineup is concerned.

It is possible that this could be due to Disney planning on launching their own streaming service, and due to a deal between both companies, characters from Netflix’s shows aren’t allowed to be used by Marvel for two years after their cancellation, so maybe Marvel just wants their characters back and made a deal with Netflix to begin the process. Jessica Jones’ third season is also in the works, and like The Punisher, we wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t get extended beyond that.
