Samsung confirmed last year that it would launch the foldable phone in 2019. According to a new report, the company might be following through on this promise in the near future. The device is reportedly going to be launched on February 20th in San Francisco. This rules out an MWC launch for the device in Barcelona towards the end of next month.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal reports today that Samsung is going to show a fully functional foldable smartphone at its February 20th event in San Francisco. It has signaled to partners that the foldable phone could be released in April but no final decision has been made as yet regarding the release time frame.

The report also mentions that Samsung hasn’t decided on the final moniker for this device. It could end up being called the “Fold,” “Galaxy Fold,” or the “Galaxy F.” All three monikers are said to be under consideration.

Samsung declined to comment on the report. Many of its fans are certainly looking forward to the foldable smartphone. They have been hearing about it for years and with Samsung offering a glimpse at its display at SDC 2018 in November, many of them just can’t wait to see the device in the flesh.
