DC’s movies have been kind of hit or miss where some have proven to be huge hits, while others have become flops. Suicide Squad and Justice League were panned by critics, but other movies such as Wonder Woman were extremely well-received, and while Aquaman’s reviews were mixed, it still managed to become the highest-grossing DC movie of all time.

This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that a sequel for the movie has been greenlit, and now according to a report from EW, we have a date to look forward to. According to the report, Aquaman 2 will be released on the 16th of December, 2022 roughly four years after its debut back in 2018.

As expected Jason Momoa will be returning as Aquaman but it is unclear if the movie’s director, James Wan, will also be making his directorial return. However the movie is expected to be written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who was the co-writer on the first film. The movie has managed to gross $1.1 billion worldwide.

DC currently has several movies planned for the future, and the confirmation of Aquaman 2’s release date makes it the eighth DC film to have been confirmed, all of which range from release dates in 2019 up to 2022.
