We have been hearing rumors and reports about the Nokia 9 PureView since late last year. The company was originally expected to release this device in 2018 but is believed to have delayed the launch to MWC 2019. Nokia’s MWC 2019 teaser essentially confirmed that this handset will be unveiled in Barcelona. Now, official press renders of the Nokia 9 PureView have been leaked online.

HMD Global, the company that makes Nokia-branded smartphones, has confirmed that it will conduct a press event on February 24th in Barcelona to unveil new smartphones. The Nokia 9 PureView will undoubtedly be the highlight of the event. The other devices HMD Global might launch at the event include the Nokia 4.2, Nokia 3.2, and the Nokia 1 Plus.

From what’s known about this handset so far, the Nokia 9 PureView is going to have five cameras at the back in addition to a display-based fingerprint sensor. It may also feature a 5.5 inch QHD+ display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset.

One would expect a premium smartphone in 2019 to use the Snapdragon 855 platform instead. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the Nokia 9 PureView. However, some reports have suggested that HMD does have a 5G variant of this device in the pipeline which will use that platform. It’s expected to arrive at some point later this year.
