It has been a while since HMD Global launched a new Nokia-branded flagship smartphone. There were reports about a Nokia 9 being due for release this year but it appears that the launch has been delayed to 2019. Some evidence has now surfaced which suggests that the company might be gearing up to launch this device.

There have been a couple of leaks related to the Nokia 9 as well over the past few months. The leaks have suggested that this flagship device could have a five camera system at the back. It would thus be uniquely positioned in a market where even quad camera systems are becoming the norm now.

An unreleased HMD Global smartphone with model number TA-1094 has now received its Bluetooth certification. This model number has been associated with the Nokia 9 in the past as well and was spotted in the database of other regulatory agencies too.

It’s common for such certifications to pop up ahead of the impending launch of a new smartphone. This suggests that it may not be long now before HMD Global officially announces this device. Some reports claim that we may get to see the handset being announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 next month.

If that doesn’t happen, then it’s a good chance that HMD Global would be saving it for the Mobile World Congress 2019. MWC takes place in February next year.
