Last year IKEA announced an upcoming collaboration with Sonos where they would be creating a set of speakers together. Details of those speakers are expected to be officially unveiled next month, but in the meantime IKEA has decided to tease the upcoming speakers with some images that shows what it could look like.

As IKEA had previously said, their upcoming speakers will be designed to be bookshelf speakers, meaning that they’ll be small and slim enough to put in a bookcase. In terms of the actual design, it is a bit reminiscent of IKEA’s previous Bluetooth speaker where the company has opted for a cloth-like design, but it’s not a bad thing and it actually looks pretty nice.

IKEA had also previously stated that there will be stands and wall brackets for the speakers, and as you can see in the image above, you can mount these speakers onto the wall where it can double up as a mini nightstand of sorts, which is actually a pretty awesome idea. No word on how much these speakers could cost, but they are shaping up to be something to look forward to.

Given the collaboration with Sonos, we expect that these speakers will support features like streaming. Whether or not it will support all the streaming services remains to be seen. It is also unclear if we can expect to see a built-in digital assistant from Amazon or Google, but in any case check back with us next month for all the official details.
