IKEA, everyone’s favorite Swedish furniture maker, has been keeping up with the times in the past few years where they have been following certain tech trends and attempting to incorporate them into their lineup. For example we saw the company create wireless chargers and build them into furnitures, then we also saw IKEA launch their own series of smart light bulbs.

Earlier this year we also saw the company launch their own set of Bluetooth speakers. Now it looks like we the company could be expanding on their speaker offerings with the Symfonisk, a new smart speaker that was created in collaboration with Sonos. The speakers have yet to be released but the company has teased them.

For those unfamiliar, IKEA and Sonos announced a partnership back in 2017 and it looks like the Symfonisk is going to be the fruit of that partnership. According to IKEA, “It’s a great sounding wi-fi speaker (that works with all Sonos products, by the way) designed to be beautifully integrated with the home furnishing overall – enabled by brackets that make it possible to use the speaker as a shelf, or to put it under a METOD kitchen cabinet, and more.”

No word on pricing, but given that IKEA’s products tend to lean on the more affordable side, we wouldn’t be surprised if these new speakers are equally competitive. As for availability, we still have a bit of waiting to do as the speakers are only planned for a release after the summer of 2019.
