Disney has been going about turning some of its classic cartoons into live-action films. We saw that treatment given to shows like Beauty and the Beast, and there are more in the works including Aladdin, Mulan, and the Lion King. If you’re curious as to what the Lion King’s live action movie could look like, you’ll be pleased to learn that Disney has since released the official trailer for it.

The live-action version of the movie seems to largely follow the cartoon version, so if you’re already familiar with the original movie, then this shouldn’t be too new for you. It is basically the same story but with a live-action cast, which we have to say makes it feel a bit more “gritty” in general.

The movie is directed by Jon Favreau and features a pretty impressive and star-studded cast. This includes Donald Glover who will voice act Simba, Beyonce who voices Nala, Seth Rogan who voices Pumbaa, Billy Eichner who voices Timon, Chiwetel Ejiofor who voices Scar, John Oliver will voice Zazu, and yes, it looks like James Earl Jones will be returning to voice the character of Mufasa.

The movie is expected to be officially released on the 19th of July, 2019 and if you have a couple of minutes to spare, do check out its trailer in the video above.
