Earlier this year, Apple launched the AirPods 2 which to be honest, wasn’t a particularly impressive launch. It is because for the most part, the AirPods 2 is still the same AirPods, except with better battery life and also support for wireless charging, but now it seems like a set of AirPods with a redesign could be launched later this year.

This is according to a report from DigiTimes who claims that the AirPods 3 is expected to hit the market by the end of the year. They also claim that according to their sources, it will sport an internal redesign by adopting system-in-package technology instead of using rigid-flex boards. Exactly what these changes mean for the AirPods is unclear, but perhaps we could be looking at a potentially lighter set of headphones and maybe even a bigger battery.

We have heard rumors that Apple could be working to bring noise-cancelling technology to their AirPods. Since that feature was not present in the AirPods 2, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that it could arrive in future versions, like the AirPods 3. It should probably be taken with a grain of salt for now, especially with DigiTimes not exactly having the best track record when it comes to Apple-related rumors, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
