There are a lot of people who are waiting for Detective Pikachu to hit the big screen and while they may have been taken by surprise when a seemingly real leak of the full movie surfaced on YouTube, it was just the studio’s way of trolling them and generating more hype for the movie. You see, Warner Bros. actually uploaded something else entirely and made it seem like it was an illegal rip of the actual Detective Pikachu movie.

Even though the lead actor Ryan Reynolds’ name does appear in the top right corner, he doesn’t really play a part in this film, which can be best described as 100 minutes of Pikachu dancing to workout music from the 1980s. That’s literally what the seemingly full Detective Pikachu leaked movie on YouTube is.

The star’s name in the top right corner is a nice touch, though, making it seem like it was his personal screener that ended up being leaked. Just to add to the hype, Reynolds himself tweeted a link to this “leak.”

It’s a rather unique way of promoting the upcoming movie which won’t be hitting the big screen until later this week. Detective Pikachu opens in theaters worldwide on Friday.
