Back in the day before digital downloads, VHS tapes were one of the few options you could consider if you wanted to watch movies at home. Now, the format has largely been phased out, but recently, it seems that Disney VHS tapes have started to become popular again and have been selling for thousands of dollars on eBay.

According to listings on eBay, it appears that classic Disney titles such as The Little Mermaid, The Fox and The Hound, and Beauty and the Beast are being sold for over $10,000 each. In fact, some boxed collections are said to be worth more than a million dollars each. It is unclear as to why these tapes are worth so much, but it should be noted that this phenomenon has been going on since at least 2016.

We should note that unlike vinyl, VHS tape players aren’t too common and it seems that they aren’t exactly being revived, so we’re not sure how people plan on playing them or if they are simply buying to collect. We’re not sure if one day DVDs or Blu-rays could be worth as much, but if you have any Disney VHS tapes lying around at home, especially if they are a collector’s edition, it could be worth holding on to, especially if they are really worth as much as what some listings suggest.
