As the number of electric vehicles grow, it also means that there needs to be more charging stations created. This is because unlike gas stations which can be commonly found, EV charging stations still aren’t quite as ubiquitous yet. There have been major improvements made over the years, but we reckon that there’s still a lot more that could be done.

The good news is that if you do shop at Walmart or stay near a Walmart, a report from Reuters has revealed that the company plans to expand the number of EV charging stations across its locations by the end of the year. At the moment, Walmart has about 120 charging stations from Volkswagen’s Electrify America across its stores in 34 states in the country, but the report claims that based on information from their sources, the company plans on adding 180 more charging stations by the end of the year.

According to Brendan Jones, Electrify America’s chief operating officer, “What Walmart offers is the heartland of America. That is a massive benefit geographically for us.” Mark Vanderhelm, vice president for energy at Walmart also told Reuters, “We anticipate the use of EVs will continue to rise and we want to put in infrastructure to accommodate that.”

Walmart and Volkswagen aren’t the only ones who have been making efforts to expand on EV charging locations. Tesla has also been working to expand on its Supercharger network of EV charging stations.
