Given how instrumental Jony Ive was in Apple’s success, thanks to his designs, it was no doubt a huge blow for the company when the famed designer announced that after 30 years, he would be finally leaving Apple and starting his own design company. We’re sure that there are probably some who are concerned about the future of the company, but Apple’s CEO Tim Cook doesn’t seem to be too fazed.

Responding to the allegations that Ive had left the company due to Cook’s alleged lack of design interest, the CEO sent a rebuttal email to NBC News in which he called those allegations “absurd”. “At a base level, it shows a lack of understanding about how the design team works and how Apple works. It distorts relationships, decisions and events to the point that we just don’t recognize the company it claims to describe.”

He also added how Apple is currently working on new products that are expected to blow customers away. “The design team is phenomenally talented. As Jony has said, they’re stronger than ever, and I have complete confidence that they will thrive under Jeff, Evans and Alan’s leadership. We know the truth, and we know the incredible things they’re capable of doing. The projects they’re working on will blow you away.”
