There’s some good news today for Spotify users on iPad. There’s a new update rolling out today for the Spotify app for iPad. The music streaming service has finally added multitasking support to the iPad version of its iOS app. This means that it gets support for features like Slide Over and Split View, a feature that Apple initially released back in 2015.

What this means is that users will no longer have to open a full screen version of the Spotify app if they want to browse for new music or switch through the songs via the pull down menu which was very limited in what it allowed users to do.

Slide Over can be used with this app by adding Spotify to the dock and then opening it when using another app. Spotify will then be launched as a Slide Over view which sits on top of the app that’s already running. Split View can be used by tapping and dragging the top of the Spotify window to the top of the tablet’s screen which will then be split between this app and the other.

This new update is now rolling out and is available for download right away from the App Store. 8.5.14.816 is the version number in question so if you’ve got that, your Spotify experience on the iPad is about to get a whole lot better.
