Due to the fact that electric cars rely on an electric motor, it tends to be a lot more quiet compared to regulars. While it is good for noise pollution, it’s not necessarily the safest for pedestrians who might not notice that a car could be behind them or coming around the corner, which is why more carmakers are starting to introduce fake car engine sounds to help warn people of their presence.

If you own a Tesla vehicle, you might actually be pleased to learn that according to a tweet by the company’s CEO Elon Musk, customized horn sounds and movement sounds will be coming soon to Tesla vehicles. According to Musk, he has hinted that we can even expect sounds like coconuts, ala Monty Python, so that could be a feature to look forward to.

There is no word on when these customization features will be rolled out to Tesla cars, but if you’re a Tesla owner, you can keep an eye out for it. While these might sound like novel features, over in the EU, it has been mandated by law that electric cars will need to emit some kind of sound due to safety concerns.

That being said, this announcement by Musk doesn’t come as a surprise. There was a recent report by Electrek in which a Monty Python Easter Egg was discovered.
