For a while now we have been hearing rumors that Apple could have a 16-inch MacBook Pro in the works. Last we heard, the laptop was rumored to be launched at the end of October, but that clearly has not happened. However, could we be getting close to a launch? According to a report from DigiTimes, apparently Apple is expecting shipments for the laptop this quarter.

The report talks about global laptop shipments which they apparently expect to drop slightly in Q4 2019. According to the report, “Apple and Microsoft are both expected to perform strongly in the fourth quarter. Apple’s new 16-inch ultra-thin-bezel MacBook Pro is expected to begin volume shipments in the fourth quarter, while Microsoft’s new third-generation Surface Laptop will boost sharply the brand vendor’s shipments sequentially in the fourth quarter.”

That being said, while Apple could be receiving shipments of the laptop this quarter, it is unclear when they might actually launch. One of the changes to the laptop is in the keyboard department, where they are expected to use a new scissor switch mechanism. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared a prediction where he said that these new keyboards are only expected to arrive mid-2020.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding the launch of the laptop.
