These days there is a growing number of smart home security cameras available in the market, and for the most part, their selling point is that the videos that their devices capture can be retrieved from the cloud, meaning that users won’t need to worry about storing videos locally and finding a way to store them.

However, the downside is that you would essentially be handing over footage from inside (or outside) your house to a company, whose servers may or may not be secure. The good news though, is that if you’re a Logitech Circle 2 owner, is that the company has announced that their camera has recently been updated where it will now support Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video.

For those who are unfamiliar, HomeKit Secure Video is where video footage captured by compatible cameras are encrypted and stored on iCloud. If for whatever reason you have more faith in Apple’s servers and security and commitment to privacy, then this is something to look forward to.

In theory, this makes your videos more secure due to the encryption, meaning that no one, not even Apple themselves, can view it without your permission. That being said, if you do plan to use it with your iCloud account, you might need to purchase more storage, so check out our guide here on how to manage your iCloud storage.
