At the moment, PCs thoroughly and utterly dominate the eSports scene. While there are definitely Mac gamers, due to the fact that PCs are more modular and easier to upgrade, it’s not surprising that many professional gamers choose PCs over Mac computers when it comes to gaming.

Now according to a rather bizarre rumor from Patently Apple, they are claiming that based on reports coming out of Taiwan, apparently Apple is looking to jump into the gaming scene by launching game-centric Mac computers in 2020. At the moment, Apple’s higher-end iMacs and MacBook Pros are capable of gaming to a certain extent.

However, a quick look at the benchmarks will reveal that they aren’t necessarily the best or most powerful when it comes to gaming, and this is apparently an area Apple wants to address. The rumor claims that this will be a high-end gaming device priced around $5,000 (similar to the base price of the Mac Pro), and could either come in the form of an AIO or a gaming laptop.

Like we said, it seems a bit bizarre that Apple would launch such a device as the company has never really been one to cater to the gaming market. Needless to say that this should be taken with a huge dose of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more details in the future.
