Samsung might be known for many things, such as TVs, smartphones, display technology, and wearables, but it seems that the company is hoping that its robotic efforts will be taken more seriously because at CES 2020, the company has taken the wraps off their latest robot called Ballie.

As it stands, Ballie is still very much a concept and as its name suggests, this is a spherical-designed robot. According to Samsung, they claim that this will be a “life companion robot” which has been designed to help around the house. Not much is known regarding its specs and features, but from what we can see, it features a camera which presumably helps it find its way around the home.

According to Sebastian Seung, Executive Vice President and Chief Research Scientist at Samsung Electronics, “We believe AI is the future of personalized care. We see on-device AI as central to truly personalized experiences. On-device AI puts you in control of your information and protects your privacy, while still delivering the power of personalization.”

However, like we said, Ballie still remains a concept for now. We’re not sure if Samsung has plans to make it a reality and bring it to the market, but it definitely shows that the company is very much interested in robotics.
