If you’re looking to learn more about the Overwatch and Diablo universes, you might be in luck because those franchises are about to get deeper and more expanded with their own animated series. This is according a recently discovered LinkedIn profile of Nick van Dyk, Activision Blizzard Studios’ co-president.
Starting with Diablo, van Dyk’s profile mentions that the franchise will be getting made into an anime-style series and it is apparently already in pre-production and will be released through Netflix. There is no word on when it will be released, but with its pre-production status, we imagine that it will probably be a while.
As for Overwatch, van Dyk’s profile mentions that Blizzard has “developed and sold” an animated series based on the game. It is unclear if this will be done in anime style or if it will be a more regular cartoon, but we imagine we’ll also have to wait quite a bit before we know more about what we can expect.
Note that neither of these two animated series have been officially confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt for now. However, it is not the first time we have heard such rumors. It was back in 2018 that it was rumored that a Diablo series was being developed at Netflix, so it looks like this is as close to official confirmation that we can get, at least for now.
