More often than not, we come across many instances of people having their Instagram accounts hacked and taken over and have its contents deleted. Since we don’t always keep backups of the photos we share on Instagram, this can be a devastating loss for some who might have amassed a huge following and a ton of posts.
However, the good news is that Instagram seems to have introduced a new feature that could protect users from account takeovers and hackers. This comes in the form of a “recently deleted” feature that allows users to restore photos, videos, reels, IGTV videos, and Stories that they might not have intended to delete.
How does this protect users against hackers and account takeovers? In the event that it happens and you eventually manage to get your account back, you’ll be able to restore the things that were deleted, assuming that it has not been more than 30 days. This is because in order to permanently delete items, Instagram will require that users confirm that they are the account owner either via email or text.
This means that even if a hacker guessed your Instagram credentials, assuming your phone and email have not been compromised, they won’t be able to permanently delete your content.
