It seems that the AirTags aren’t the only new accessory that Apple could be developing. According to a report from WCCFTech, they have spotted some references in the iOS 14.5 beta 2 code that suggests that Apple could actually be working on a MagSafe power bank designed for the iPhone.

For those unfamiliar, MagSafe is Apple’s new “wireless” charging solution. It uses magnets to attach a charger to the back of the iPhone, kind of similar in concept to the Apple Watch charger. This has led to the creation of some interesting accessories by third-party accessory makers, one of whom has actually created a power bank that can be easily attached and detached from the iPhone.

While we have no idea how Apple’s own power bank will look like, it’s not hard to imagine that it would look similar, at least in concept, to the third-party one that was launched last year. After all, how many ways could a power bank be attached to the MagSafe system, right?

As WCCFTech notes, Apple typically releases a smart battery case for the iPhone, so it is possible that this MagSafe power bank could be an alternative to that. The company has created a MagSafe wallet accessory for the iPhone, so why not a power bank too, right? At least it gives users the option of being able to use it when needed and they won’t have to lug around such a thick and heavy case all the time.
