If you use an iOS device but want to migrate to Android, it’s not that hard to transfer photos and contacts, but when it comes to migrating WhatsApp chat history, that’s when it gets a bit tricky. However, the good news is that WhatsApp is finally about to do something about it, according to a recent discovery by the folks at WABetaInfo.

For those who are unfamiliar, WhatsApp on iOS stores its chat history backup to iCloud, whereas on Android, it uses Google Drive. This means that in order to migrate chat history from one device to another, you would need to use third-party softwares that may or may not work and that you would have to pay for.

However, the good news is that according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp seems to be testing out a way that would allow users to move chat history across devices. This comes on the heels of a previous report that suggested that WhatsApp was looking into the possibility of being able to run on multiple devices at once, which means that there would be a need to be able to move and sync up chat histories across devices and platforms.

It is unclear how this will work yet, but it sounds like good news for those who might be considering moving from iOS to Android in the future.
