One of the problems with WhatsApp is the compression they use for photos. Have you ever realized that even though our phones take such great images, when they are sent through WhatsApp, suddenly they lose a lot of the details and sharpness that made them look good in the first place.

Like we said, this is due to compression but it’s understandable because WhatsApp probably wants image files to go through faster. However, there is some good news on that front because according to WABetaInfo, they have discovered signs within the latest WhatsApp beta that users could soon be allowed to choose the quality of the photos they send.

If this sounds familiar, it is because prior to this, the publication had discovered evidence that suggested that a similar treatment would be coming to videos sent over WhatsApp, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise that photos are now getting a similar update as well. Users will be able to choose from Auto, Best Quality, or Data Saver settings.

Presumably Data Saver would send photos similar to how WhatsApp handles photos right now, although Best Quality is a bit ambiguous because we’re not sure if it means less compression will be applied, or if photos will be sent in their original form, but either way, it’s something that users can look forward to in the future.
