If you want to play games online with your friends on the Nintendo Switch, you will need a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. However, to entice gamers and to sweeten the pot, as part of a subscription to Switch Online, gamers will also be able to access a library of classic games from older platforms like the NES and SNES.

However, if those platforms are a bit too old for you and you don’t recognize the games, then you might be interested to learn that Nintendo could soon offer Game Boy games as well.

This is according to a report from Eurogamer who actually corroborates another report from Nintendo Life who alleges that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be coming to Switch Online in the future.

There is currently no word on when the addition of Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be added to Switch Online, but as Eurogamer notes, this month actually marks the third year since the service went live, and SNES games were added back in September 2019. While not necessarily definitive, it could suggest that maybe Nintendo will announce something soon.

If the rumors are true, this will no doubt be great news as the Game Boy and its variants are a classic as far as consoles are concerned, so we’re sure that there are going to be some Game Boy games that some gamers would love to revisit.
