One of the features Apple announced at WWDC 2021 was a feature for the AirPods Pro called Conversation Boost. This essentially turns the earphones into some kind of pseudo hearing aid where it can help enhance the volume levels of people talking around you, and the good news is that it looks like the feature is here.

As part of the latest AirPods Pro firmware update, Apple has finally brought Conversation Boost to its earphones. Note that this seems to only work for the AirPods Pro, so for those who own the regular AirPods or AirPods Pro Max, it doesn’t look like this will be a feature that you can take advantage of.

To enable the feature, you’ll have to launch the Settings app on your phone, scroll down to Accessibility and look for AirPods. Then you’ll have to go to Audio Accessibility Settings, choose Headphone Accommodations, choose Custom Audio Setup, and follow the prompts. At the end, under Customize Transparency Mode, scroll down and look for Conversation Boost and toggle it on.

Keep in mind that this isn’t a replacement for a proper pair of hearing aids, but for those who aren’t necessarily at that point where they might need hearing aids but could still benefit from a boost in speaking volume, then it could be worth checking out.
