One of the rumors of Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro launch is that after years of maintaining the same design, Apple will finally be introducing a brand new look for the laptop. One of the changes is that Apple will apparently be trying to reduce the bezels as much as possible, and interesting enough to accommodate this change, Apple will be introducing a notched design.

This is the same thing Apple did with its newer iPhones, where to accommodate an edge-to-edge display, the company had to create a notch to house the front-facing camera and Face ID. So in a similar situation, to house the webcam, Apple will be adapting the notch to its MacBook Pro.

This is according to a post on Weibo by DuanRui, who has in the past leaked Apple-related information on upcoming products. That being said, we have to admit it’s a bit of a bizarre rumor because as MacRumors notes, having a notch essentially eats into the Menu Bar of macOS and its apps.

This means that if this is true, developers will need to take into account the notch and possibly redesign their apps so that the notch doesn’t get in the way of functionality. It’s an odd rumor to say the least so it’s probably best to take it with a grain of salt, but either way we should have more details at Apple’s event tomorrow.
