The Last Seen status of WhatsApp is kind of a double-edged sword. This is because sometimes, people can get upset that you’ve read their message or have come online but have yet to reply them. This is why WhatsApp has options that let you choose who can see your Last Seen status.

However, right now users can only choose from three options – everyone, your contacts only, or no one. Now according to WABetaInfo, it seems that WhatsApp is working on expanding on the feature where they are giving users more fine-tuned controls where there will be an option that lets you select who you don’t want to share your Last Seen status with.

This option comes in the form of “My contacts except”, where you can now choose select contacts that cannot see your Last Seen status. This means that in the event that there are some people in your contacts that you don’t want them seeing your Last Seen status, you can add them to the exception list so that they won’t be able to see it, but everyone else on your contact list can.

At the moment it appears that this feature is only available to select beta users meaning that not everyone will be able to take advantage of the feature. There’s no word on when it will be available to all users, but as it is being tested now, we imagine that a public release shouldn’t be too far off.
