The problem with online dating is that you can’t always be sure that who you are talking to online are who they say they are. After all, it’s not that difficult to take a photo of someone else on the internet and upload it to your profile and claim that is you. It’s also not that hard to lie about things such as age, job, and so on.

These are some of the potential dangers people face when trying to date online, but the good news for Tinder members is that soon users will be able to perform background checks. This was announced on Tinder’s blog where users will soon be able to access background checks on their matches through Garbo.

Tinder’s parent company, Match, actually announced back in 2021 that they were teaming up with Garbo for background checks, but we haven’t really heard anything much about that partnership after it was announced, at least until now.

For those unfamiliar, Garbo is a nonprofit organization that helps users perform background checks on other people. From what we can tell, this is done by pulling publicly available information such as whether they have any criminal offenses linked to them or if they might be a sex offender.
