Huawei has provided a preliminary look at the Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition ahead of its official launch event on April 20 in China. This new iteration expands the company’s ultra-premium wearable portfolio, following the trajectory set by the previous Royal Edition. The device is positioned to compete in the luxury smartwatch segment, blending high-end jewelry aesthetics with advanced technical specifications.

Design and Aesthetic Refinements

The primary distinction of the Diamond Edition lies in its opulent construction. As the name suggests, diamonds are strategically integrated into the watch face, bezel, and strap, notably marking the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. The watch casing features a precision-cut finish reminiscent of traditional high-end jewelry.

Beyond the gemstones, Huawei has updated the physical interface. The device includes a redesigned digital crown complemented by a capsule-shaped side button. These changes enhance the tactile experience while maintaining the sophisticated silhouette expected of the “Ultimate Design” series.

Technical Capabilities and Health Monitoring

Despite its focus on luxury, the smartwatch retains robust functional features. It utilizes the Health Glance system, which allows users to monitor core metrics—including heart rate, blood oxygen levels (SpO2), and stress—in a single, quick assessment. The watch supports a wide array of physical activities, such as professional-grade golf tracking, cycling, and running, supported by onboard GPS and music storage.

For specialized use, the device remains water-resistant for dives up to 150 meters. It includes a sonar-based communication system designed for underwater messaging between divers. Additionally, specialized outdoor modes are included to optimize battery consumption during extended excursions.

Pricing and Availability

While official pricing for the Diamond Edition has not yet been confirmed, its predecessor, the Royal Edition, retailed for over €3,000 (~$3,210). Analysts expect the Diamond Edition to occupy a similar or higher price point within the luxury market. More details regarding global availability and final retail costs are expected to be unveiled during the official presentation, which may also feature the debut of the Huawei Watch Buds 2.
