OnePlus is reportedly under scrutiny in Europe for allegedly failing to honor its mandatory two-year consumer warranty. According to reports from affected users, the company has begun issuing €100 (~$114) store vouchers instead of replacing or repairing defective accessories that have reached their “End of Life” status. This development follows a broader shift in Europe, where OnePlus has started directing new customers toward its parent companyOPPO.

Several users documented their experiences on Reddit after attempting to claim warranties on faulty hardware, including the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 and a 120W SuperVOOC fast charger. Instead of receiving functional replacements, these customers were issued €100 digital vouchers.

Beware of OnePlus EU Warranty: Offering useless shop vouchers while emptying their inventory

However, recipients report that these vouchers carry severe restrictions that render them practically useless:

  • Inventory Depletion: OnePlus is experiencing severe stock shortages across multiple product categories in its European online store, leaving little for consumers to purchase.
  • Stacking Restrictions: The vouchers cannot be combined with existing sales or promotional discounts, which currently apply to much of the remaining inventory.
  • Limited Scope and Validity: The credits are exclusive to the official online storefront, cannot be used for physical retail purchases or future repair services, and expire after just one month.

Regional Shifts and Regulatory Risks

As a result of these limitations, at least one customer has refused the voucher, while another intends to file a formal complaint with the European Consumer Center (ECC) citing deception and warranty violations. European consumer protection laws mandate strict compliance regarding product guarantees, and non-compliance could expose OnePlus to significant financial penalties.

This warranty dispute coincides with an apparent downscaling of OnePlus operations outside of Asia. The company is reportedly clearing out inventory in both the United States and the United Kingdom, shifting its primary market focus to India and China. Future hardware releases, such as the Nord 6 and Pad 4, are expected to be limited to these regions, while software rumors suggest OxygenOS may eventually be phased out in favor of OPPO’s ecosystem.
