Meta has rolled out software version 127 for its smart glasses portfolio, introducing expanded video recording limits, hands-free communications, and specialized hands-free sports integration.
The update applies across several hardware lines, including Ray-Ban Meta 2, Oakley Meta HSTN, Oakley Meta Vanguard, and standard Meta Glasses models.
Extended Video Recording & Hands-Free Messaging
The latest firmware increases maximum video recording duration to 5 minutes at 1080p resolution and 30 fps, expanding upon the previous 3-minute limit. Users can enable this feature through the media settings menu in the companion application.
In addition to video upgrades, the software enhances hands-free communication across the Meta app ecosystem:
- Hands-Free Video Calls: Users can initiate video calls on WhatsApp, Messenger, or Instagram Direct via voice commands while their smartphone remains in a pocket.
- Voice Control Expansion: Adds hands-free voice operations for initiating contacts without physical phone interaction.
Golf Integrations & Expanded Language Support
For athletic use cases, version 127 integrates direct support for popular golf management apps, specifically 18Birdies and Arccos. Once linked, players can trigger tracking by stating, “Hey Meta, start a round of golf”. The Meta AI assistant then provides real-time, hands-free field insights, including:
- Distance Measurements: Real-time distance calculations to the green.
- Club Recommendations: AI-assisted suggestions based on field data.
- Score Tracking: Hands-free automated score logging.
Finally, the release adds Turkish language support across all device controls, media playback, messaging, and Meta AI interaction. The firmware update is distributed directly through the Meta AI companion app. To update your glasses,:
- Open the Meta AI app and tap on Glasses in the top right.
- Tap Device settings.
- Tap Updates.
- Tap Check to check for software updates.
