The magnet is convenient, not required. An included magnetic ring case can snap Picco to the back of a smartphone so the two travel as one. Leave the case off and it still works in a pocket or bag. Loading books is the real friction, and you should know it before you click preorder. There is no Google Play Store and no Kindle app. You move files through the BOOX Tiles phone app, booxtiles.com, or a USB-C cable. Official formats include EPUB, MOBI, and AZW* family files once transferred that way. Transferring an AZW file is not Amazon library sync with DRM. Plan on a little setup before the dead-minute ritual works.
Size is the other honesty check. At about playing-card size and roughly 58 g (105.5 × 62 × 5.5 mm), this panel is built for short chapters in line, not long sofa sessions. Warm/cool front light, touch, and physical page buttons help the habit. They do not make a 3.97-inch screen feel like a full-size Kindle. Skip Picco if your main use is long novels at home.
