Megallan has announced a new 7-inch personal navigation device (PND) today, called “RoadMate 9250T-LMB.” It comes equipped with a number of new features which, Megallan promises, will significantly improve on-road safety. For instance, RoadMate packs a Megallan Wireless Back-Up Camera which provides the driver with a rear view when the vehicle is in reverse (nice!).

Other features of the PND include the ability to show road details through Portrait Mode viewing and send pre-written text messages while driving with the help of Bluetooth Safe Texting. The device also includes Junction View, Landmark Guidance and Traffic Camera Alerts.

Here is the company’s vision for this device, according to the Associate Vice President of Product Management for Megallan, Stig Pedersosn, “As part of our safety series, we are incorporating the newest features into our line of large-screen GPS devices for drivers of large vehicles or those who need a larger GPS display to see content better.”

Megallan stated that the new GPS will hit the shelves in late September for a retail price of $229.99. You can either place an order for it at MegallanGPS.com or grab one from Best Buy. From our point of view, larger PNDs with backup cameras should not be only for “large”  vehicles, but for all vehicles – yep, call us geeks.
