[CES 2013] Smart TVs are becoming more commonplace these days, especially since it offers up more functionality and content versus a regular television. Now if you’re shopping about for a new smart TV, Netgear, a company known for its networking solutions, has announced the NeoTV Prime which will be joining the company’s existing lineup of streaming players for the connected home theater equipment, allowing users to search for content such as live TV streams, apps, or even the web via the device which as you can see in the photo above is pretty small and relatively inconspicuous.According to Netgear, the NeoTV Prime was built upon the foundations set up by its predecessors, such as the NeoTV, NeoTV Pro and NeoTV MAX, with the main difference being that the NeoTV Prime will not be used only for basic television watching purposes, but grant users access to the Google Play store where additional video and music content from streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, HBO Go, Crackle, Flixter, Rhapsody and Pandora can be accessed. The NeoTV Prime will also offer USB support, so if there are movies stored on a flash drive or external hard drive that you want to stream onto the device, you will be able to do so thanks to the aVia media player app.
The PrimeTime app will also come with the NeoTV Prime which will learn what sort of shows you like to watch, saving you time from scrolling through pages of content. YouTube streaming will also become easier as users will be able to stream YouTube videos from their phone onto the NeoTV Prime at a tap of a button as long as your Android device and NeoTV Prime are connected to the same WiFi network. Priced at $129.99, Netgear will be bundling a two-sided remote with the NeoTV Prime, one side that sports a touchpad and directional pad, and the other with a QWERTY keyboard for easy navigation and searching.
