controllerWhile touchscreen phones have undoubtedly changed the way we play games and the types of games that are made, let’s face it – there are just some games that play much better if there were physical controllers involved.

Just like how one would be better off playing fighting games with a game pad or an arcade stick compared to a keyboard, some mobile games are definitely better when played with a game controller. If you agree, Mad Catz has recently announced their new C.T.R.L.i game pad during MWC 2014 where the folks at Engadget managed to get their hands on it and took it for a spin.

The Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i game pad now joins the ranks of SteelSeries’ Stratus, the Logitech PowerShell, and the MOGA Ace Power as being one of the few Made For iPhone gaming controllers available in the market today. Of course there are a few other brands out there, but these four are the only ones at the moment who have managed to get Apple’s blessing. Mad Catz’s offering will pair with iPhones using Bluetooth and will come with a spring loaded mount that will play nicely with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and the iPhone 5c.

Mad Catz has also designed the controller to look like the Xbox One’s controller which we guess is not a bad thing since it would mean that gamers are familiar with it. It will include the usual assortment of buttons, a directional pad, two analog sticks, left and right triggers and shoulder bumpers. Priced at $80, the Mad Catz C.T.R.L.i will be available in April.
