Earlier this year in January, AT&T announced that the ASUS PadFone X would be making its way onto the carrier’s network, but fast forward to April, there is still no sign of the device. By no means has it been cancelled because AT&T has made sure that we were constantly reminded about the device’s presence, either by teasing it or by announcing its specifications.

We’re not sure what’s with the hold up but in the meantime, AT&T has released another teaser, this time that of a video which showcases the ASUS PadFone X. Perhaps AT&T is looking for the right time to launch the device and position in in a good way, or perhaps there could be production issues and they’re waiting of ASUS to supply them with units, but either way we still have no clue as to when the tablet/phone hybrid will debut.

For those who are hearing about the PadFone X for the first time, this is a device that combines a smartphone and tablet into a single device. The core component itself is the phone which is removable from the tablet and also helps to power it. This allows users to swap between devices, meaning that if you wanted a phone, you just take it out, but when you want a tablet, you just slot it right back in, sort of like the ultimate 2-in-1 device.

It does seem a little novel but given that tablets these days are on the rise, we expect more users to find a potential use for the PadFone X. In any case we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for a release date from AT&T, but until then it looks like you guys will just have to make-do with the video.
