lg-g-watch-google-io-2014-020Just last week we reported that LG had put the LG G Watch up for pre-order on Google Play. According to the listing, it has been estimated to begin shipping on the 3rd of July, and sure enough it has. According to reports from the Android Central forums, it seems that there are some users who claim to have received the notification that their device has been shipped.

However despite the notification, there was no mention as to when they might be able to look forward to their device, but hopefully it shouldn’t take too long before users begin receiving their orders. For those who pre-ordered the Samsung Gear Live, the device is expected to begin shipping on the 8th of July, so you should expect to receive a notification around that time.

The LG G Watch will be the first smartwatch to officially run on Google’s Android Wear platform. The platform has been designed for smartwatches in mind and so far we have seen a handful of apps that have been designed for the platform in mind, like Google Maps, Evernote, and even IFTTT which allows users to use their smartwatch to automate certain functions.

The Moto 360 is another Android Wear device that has yet to be launched. Still no specific dates have been mentioned yet, but in the meantime if you were looking forward to alternatives, perhaps the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live could be worth your consideration.
